\nApril 14, 2023: Chemichemi Foundation in collaboration MediaNet Works held a capacity building session at the Machakos Technical Institute for the Blind, Machakos County. The workshop delved into the internet ecosystem, its functions and data safety and security. #security Furthermore, participants discussed digital accessibility for persons with disabilities. This was the first capacity building session for the institutional staff trained as trainers of trainers. Paradigm Initiative #DRIF23

\r\n \r\n 1.2. Unlocking the promise of tomorrow for open source data for water access and quality <\/a>\r\n <\/div>\r\n
July 10, 2023: The integration of open source data for accessible and quality water services is urgent for all, including persons with disabilities. Speaking to students of the Machakos Technical Institute for the Blind, Mr Philip Tendet, the Secretary Technical, Nairobi Rivers Commission emphasized on circularity of water systems and challenged students to leverage on emerging water innovations.

\nLaying emphasis on the Digital Earth (DE) Africa open source data platforms, Mr. Joseph Tuyishimire, User Engagement Manager, underscored that innovation and inclusion ought to be integrated. Furthermore, Mr Tuyishimire highlighted that water monitoring and management is a priority area for DE Africa which he said has availed the Water Observations from Space (WOfS); an Africa-wide water monitoring service. The WOfS service helps nations and stakeholders to make informed decisions, plans, and on-going adjustments that will contribute toward achieving target 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals. Further, WOfS provides information and data that enables monitoring of ecosystems that supports sustainable management of water and sanitation in Africa. Moreover, through DE Africa platforms users can investigate water quality especially the turbidity and chlorophyll content using cloud-free mosaics (Geomedian and Median Absolute Deviations-GEOMADs) derived from Sentinel and Landsat images covering the whole continent.

\nMs. Milka Tabitha Chepkorir, from the Department of Resource Surveys and Remote Sensing, underscored that monitoring water quantity and quality using data from observation networks is fundamental to water resources study, management and decision-making. She urged the students to advance their technical capacity on the open source data platforms for their own use to support water access and quality in their communities.

\r\n \r\n 1.3 Virtual Dissemination of the Braille Digital Infrastructure Divide in the Commonwealth Course Content <\/a>\r\n <\/div>\r\n
March 31, 2023: In collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat, United Kingdom,the Foundation disseminated the Braille Digital Infrastructure Divide in the Commonwealth Course Content. In his remarks during the virtual event, Mr. Fred Haga, Director Special Needs Education, Ministry of Education affirmed Government commitment to bridge the digital divide. Mr. Haga, emphasized on the necessity of connectivity as an enabler to access relevant learning course materials that can enhance inclusive digital competences for all.
\n#digital In her remarks, Ms. Radika Kumar, Adviser, Infrastructure Policy Trade, Oceans and Natural Resources Directorate, the Commonwealth Secretariat, acknowledged the importance of digital infrastructure as a catalyst for social economic development. #education Speaking on education as the bridge to digital inclusion, Ms. Caroline Kithama, Head of Office Education Hungary, Regional Office highlighted on the numerous studying\/learning opportunities in Hungary. She underlined that most scholarship opportunities are available through the Ministry of Education.
